PETERBILT INTRODUCES ERGONOMIC COLUMN-MOUNTED SHIFTER FOR AUTOMATED TRANSMISSION
Major Automotive Installations in Kenvil NJ and Peterbilt is pleased to present a brand-new, ergonomic column-mounted shifter on the Models 579 and also 567. The column-mounted shifter will be standard on trucks outfitted with the automated PACCAR Transmission as well as those outfitted with Eaton Advantage as well as Ultra Change AMTs.
The brand-new shifter, located on the right-hand side of the guiding column, includes a multi-mode design and enables control of all transmission and engine brake features, including gear choice, engine brake mode and also guidebook changing. The column-mounted shifter places regulates at the chauffeur’s finger pointers, minimizing interruptions and allowing a raised focus on road problems and bordering web traffic.
” The column-mounted shifter takes the ergonomics of the Versions 579 and 567 to a brand-new degree,” stated Scott Newhouse, Peterbilt Principal Engineer. “The column-mounted shifter was made based upon in-depth research studies of driver behavior and comfort designs. This new design also permitted us to improve on the functionality of our dash by getting rid of engine brake control changes.”
The column-mounted shifter will be available on Versions 579 as well as 567 bought with automated transmissions starting in October 2017.
With the implementation of the column-mounted bar, a new-design pinch valve situated on the dashboard changed the typical lever for trailer brake activation, considerably boosting control during coupling and uncoupling maneuvers.
